Welcome to Spring Semester 2013
The Best College Radio Stations
Master of Teaching Arts
Modern & Contemporary American Poetry
Al Filreis
This
course is a fast-paced introduction to modern and contemporary U.S. poetry, from
Dickinson and Whitman to the present. Participants (who need no prior experience
with poetry) will learn how to read poems that are supposedly
"difficult."
Dear FIX,
A little more than an hour from now - at 11:59 PM eastern time Saturday - week 5 ModPo videos and audio will be available. They will be linked, as usual, in the main syllabus page. The videos will also appear in the "video discussions" page. And a new discussion forum for week 5 poems will also appear. The week 5 quiz will also be available at the same time. The audio introduction to week 5 - chapters 3, 4, 5 & 6 - is available and is linked to the syllabus.
At 11:59 PM eastern time Sunday night - 25 hours from now - the writing and submission period for essay #2 will be done. At that time those who submitted essays can go back into the "writing assignments" module and begin to comment on others' essays. Once each essay has received at least one peer review, the essay and the review(s) will be copied to the discussion forum. At that point, even those who did not write essays - as well as TAs and myself - can begin writing additional comments. The peer review process will continue for all of week 5.
The ModPo TAs and I hope you enjoy these four short, related chapters of our course.
Best wishes for the remainder of the weekend,
Al
